    • Seek Clarification - For this task, you are to record a short video (1 to 3 minutes) of yourself seeking clarification from a supervisor over the phone. 

      Ensure to select the 'Finish attempt and 'Submit All and 'Finish' buttons for the spelling quiz to be submitted. 

    • Spelling quiz – For the performance task, you are to listen to the recorded words, and then spell (type) each of these words in the space provided below each task.

      Total number of recorded words - ten (10).

      Time allowed: There is no time limit on the quiz. This means you should be able to save and come back to the quiz later and continue without the pressure of completing the quiz in one day/sitting. 

      Attempts allowed: 3 attempts.


      Note: During the quiz attempt, kindly ensure the use of Australian spelling rather than American spelling. In Australian English, we incorporate the letter 'A' into certain words. For instance, in medical terminology, the American English "hematology" is spelled as "haematology" in Australian English.



      The student should aim to achieve a 100% mark in the spelling quiz. After submission of the spelling quiz, if you notice a red cross next to any of the answers, this would indicate incorrect spelling. If you notice a green tick next to the answer, then this would indicate a correct answer. 
      Ensure to select the 'Finish attempt' and 'Submit All and 'Finish' buttons for the spelling quiz to be submitted. 

    • Pronunciation - For this task, you are to record yourself pronouncing each term/word. Please ensure to record all the medical terms/words listed below in one single recording.  

      Ensure to select the 'Finish attempt' and 'Submit All and 'Finish' buttons for the spelling quiz to be submitted. 

    • For the following case study, you are to complete a basic Patient Care Report Form using the information provided (download Patient Care Report Form here).

      Once you have completed the Patient Care Report Form, you are to upload the completed form in this assessment (Instructions for submission of Patient Care Report noted below the Case Study information).

      Case Study:

      At 1330hrs, you are dispatched to an aged care facility for reports of an unresponsive male patient. You arrive on-scene at 1341hrs and are met by nursing staff who inform you that a resident has been found in his room by cleaning staff.

      When you enter the room, you find a 78-year-old patient laying supine on the bathroom floor. His eyes are closed and he appears to have signs of central cyanosis. You check for a response and his eyes do not open, he withdraws to pain and is making incomprehensible sounds, giving you a GCS of 7. The patient is breathing at a rate of 12 breaths per minute and has a weak radial pulse at a rate of 62 beats per minute. On examination, you observe a haematoma to the back of the patients’ head with a small amount of blood on the floor.

      The nursing staff provide a medical history for the patient which includes:

      Congestive heart failure, 2 x myocardial infarctions, previous transient ischemic attack and diabetes mellitus. The patient currently takes aspirin 150mg daily, metformin 500mg daily, furosemide 40mg daily, and metoprolol 50mg twice daily.

      The patient is allergic to morphine, iodine, shellfish and peanuts.

        Instructions for submitting your assessment files:
        If there is more than one document to be submitted as part of your assessment submission, then It is requested to kindly create a Compressed (zipped) folder of all the required files to be submitted. Zipped (compressed) files take up less storage space and can be transferred to other computers more quickly than uncompressed files. Following 2 steps are offered to assist with creating a Compressed (zipped) folder/file:

          • Step 1: Locate the file(s) or folder that you want to zip.
          • Step 2: Press and hold (or right-click) the file(s) or folder, select (or point to) Send to, and then select Compressed (zipped) folder.

        A new Compressed (zipped) folder with the same name is created in the same location. If you are using Mac a new Compressed folder could be created with the name of "Archive.zip" in the same location. To rename it, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Rename, and then type the new name.

        In addition to the above-mentioned steps, you are welcome to watch a short YouTube video (approx. 1.22 minutes) demonstrating 'How to Create a Zipped Folder/File'.  

        This video demonstrates creating a Compressed (zipped) folder in Windows but the process is similar for Mac. 

        After creating a Compressed (zipped) folder of all the required files to be submitted, follow these steps to submit your assignment documents:

          • Step 1 - scroll down on the page and locate 'Add Submission' button. 
          • Step 2 - File submissions section will open up, where you can drag and drop the assessment document folder. Please drag and drop the compressed zip folder created for this assessment submission and select 'Save Changes'.
          • Step 3 - The system will take you to next step (page) where a 'Submission Status' of 'Draft (not submitted' is displayed. Scroll down on the page and if you are ready to submit the uploaded file/s then select 'Submit assignment'. 
          • Step 4 - The system will take you to next step (page) where a 'Confirm Submission' section will appear. Please select the box to acknowledge the statement and select 'Continue' button. Your assessment documents are submitted and the Submission Status would indicate 'Submitted for grading'. You will also receive an email notification with a confirmation of assignment submission.
