Candidate Instructions
For this task you need to identify hazards and apply risk management strategies to a demolition site.
Complete the questions and tasks in the table on the following pages based on the demolition site
(real or simulated) you have access to.
Questions are divided into four sections, as follows:
1. Demolition Plan Summary: Here, you need to identify and record some of the key information
outlined in the Demolition Plan given to you by your assessor.
2. Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS): Here, you need to read the SWMS given to you by your
assessor and answer the questions.
3. Hazards and risk management strategies: These questions relate to the demolition site itself. To
answer these questions, you will need to inspect the demolition site. The Demolition Plan and
SWMS might also be helpful.
4. Environment: Like those above, these questions relate to the demolition site. To answer these
questions, you will need to inspect the demolition site. The Demolition Plan and SWMS might
also be helpful.
You must answer all the questions sufficiently and correctly to be marked as ‘satisfactory’ for this task.
Resources and documents
To complete this assessment, your assessor will give you:
• access to a real or simulated demolition site.
• a Demolition Plan for the demolition site.
• a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) for the demolition site.
• at least one workplace policy relating to the identification of hazards and/or management of
risks on demolition sites.
• at least one procedure relating to the identification of hazards and/or management of risks on
demolition sites.
• appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) .
• tools and equipment required to undertake hazard identification.
